    \r\nI've been busy with work. This is more a post for people like you who \r\nasked for a \u201clast message\u201d, whether it is a \u201cphilosophy\u201d or an \r\nacknowledgement. I think it wouldn't be a great idea for me to write \r\nsomething that sounds generic. I've expressed my motivations, I'll \r\nexpress them now again: a) There\u2019s no over\u2011centralised body for Bitcoin, \r\nb) The governance model should be market driven and not enforced by any \r\ninstitution.  The solution that we have right now \u2013 consensus from the \r\ndevelopers and client\u2011upgrades \u2013 works. If it stops, an improved \r\nsolution will arise (eventually a soft\u2011fork or a hard\u2011fork). I have a \r\nstrong belief in the theory that the best system is one that minimizes \r\nthe amount of control one party has.\r\n\r\nIf I'm not shocked that there will be new people with fresh perspectives \r\nchanging Bitcoin, that\u2019s because I think the future is very bright for \r\na system that is open source, incremental and is able to adapt. A lot \r\nof how Bitcoin is built right now hinges on code, integrity, community \r\nand resilience. Those things won\u2019t vanish because some individuals are \r\ngone.\r\n\r\nNow, I shouldn't say that we have the same exact same problems as we \r\ndid in 2008; we still have some things to improve \u2013 transaction fees, \r\nprivacy, scaling \u2013 but that assumes we want to alter the network design. \r\nIf that is the case, we should keep it simple and not try to over\u2011engineer \r\nsolutions. We need to maintain the principle that anyone can start a \r\nnew \u201cBitcoin\u2011like\u201d system, with its own set of rules, but the original \r\nsystem should be left to survive on its own. That was the point of writing \r\nthe code the way I did: modular and flexible.\r\n\r\nI'll continue to watch the development, but I won't be a part of it. \r\nHopefully the community will produce better and better ways to keep \r\nthe integrity of the system as the world evolves.
